Assistant Cook

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience as a cook or assistant cook
  • Training and experience in cooking for large groups
  • Ability to work well with others at camp. Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving and kitchen procedures
  • Have current food handlers permit

Responsible To

  • Head Cook (shift supervisor) / Food Service Manager / Camp Director

General Responsibility

  • Work together with kitchen staff
  • Participate in overall staff orientation as possible
  • Work with head cook to receive and store food stuffs and supplies
  • Function as general all round-cook for all meals and special events
  • Clean and prepare food service areas for use. Help close kitchen down for off season
  • Follow all rules of local and state health regulations
  • These are not the only duties to be performed. Some duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required

Essential Functions

  • Ability to lift/unload food and supplies
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of food, supplies
  • Ability to interpret written menus and meal plans

Cooks are in control of all food service, dish crew and food preparation and serving.


Kitchen Assistant

Minimum Qualifications

  • Desire to live and work in camp community
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision from, and work with others
  • Self-starter
  • At least sixteen years of age
  • Current food handlers permit

Responsible To

  • Crew Heads & Cooks / Camp Directors

General Responsibility

  • Assist in preparing food for meals as directed
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen and longhouse
  • Wash dishes before, during and after meals. Maintain the dish room in a clean and operable condition
  • Serve food during meal time
  • Sweep longhouse after every meal and mop once daily
  • Maintain kitchen & longhouse garbage
  • Maintain kitchen bathroom
  • Do what is asked of head cook or assistant cook

Essential Functions

  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in demanding atmosphere

Maintenance Assistant

Minimum Qualifications

  • Desire to live and work in camp community
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision from, and work with others
  • Self-starter
  • Ability to do general maintenance such as weeding, path clearing, etc.

Responsible To

  • Head Maintenance/Camp Director

General Responsibility

  • Daily pick up of all camp trash
  • Replenish toilet paper, paper towels and other essentials as needed
  • Minor repairs around camp facilities
  • Duties such as cleaning paths, painting, small projects
  • Turning generator on and off at appropriate times as directed
  • Maintaining campfire areas as well as preparing for evening campfires
  • Daily check of toilets in common areas and report any damage immediately to Head of maintenance
  • Set up and tear down for meetings/activities as needed

Essential Functions

  • Ability to lift 20 pounds or more
  • Ability to complete minor projects as directed
  • Must be willing to work in other positions at camp as needed and directed by camp director

Lifeguard

Minimum Qualifications

  • Desire to live and work in camp community
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision from, and work with others
  • Self-starter
  • At least seventeen years of age
  • Current lifeguard certifications
  • Current first aid and CPR
  • Training and experience in pool and swimming activities
  • Knowledge of pool management

Responsible To

  • Camp Director

General Responsibility

  • Maintain the operations of the pool facilities
  • Check equipment and make and (or file for) repairs
  • Coordinate with camp director when the pool will be open for swimming
  • Evaluate aquatic abilities of staff and campers
  • Guard swimmers appropriately
  • Daily cleaning of bathrooms and pool house
  • Daily sweeping of the pool and washing/sweeping of the pool deck
  • Daily monitoring and proper recording of pool chemicals
  • Maintain lifeguard room and cleanliness
  • Proper recording of any incidents into health log

Essential Functions

  • Ability to swim and teach swimming
  • Ability to act quickly in case of emergency
  • Ability to maintain pool facility in safe proper condition, meeting all standards and health regulations
  • Ability to supervise campers and staff in the water
  • Ability to implement and enforce pool safety and cleanliness rules
